From Disappearance to Discovery
Hove entrepreneur Maria Adriana Contreras, 46 remembers her disappeared father for #DayoftheDisappeared on Aug 30th 2020 who was killed during the Dictatorship in her native Chile in 1976. Because depression and grief have accompanied her throughout her life she found her own way through it by learning every self-help and feel-good technique she could grab and found a way to overcome deep loss by finding her real self. “If I hadn’t spent a lifetime finding ways to feel better I wouldn't have survived that - it was too horrific. This is why I make it my business to help people to be okay with who they are at such a deep level that nothing or nobody can take that away from you, not even the most terrible tragedy. I knew I had to get this story out there and share hope and strength that even the worst things can be overcome with the correct tools and most of all with the respect and dignity that the challenge, and you deserve.” She said.
